This distinction is central to Lotto Plus research. The five main numbers and the Powerball are stored, measured and interpreted as separate parts of a draw.
Why the separation matters
Main-number statistics operate on the five main values. Powerball statistics operate on the separate Powerball field. Combining them into one six-number pool would misrepresent the current game model and make the resulting measurements difficult to interpret.
Powerball frequency
For each Powerball value from 1–10, the Powerball Explorer reports appearances, the share of historical draws, current gap and most recent occurrence.
These values are counts and proportions within the selected records. They describe the retained history rather than a future preference.
Analyzer treatment
The Lotto Plus Analyzer gives Powerball its own frequency grid, share of draws, current gap and descriptive category. Powerball values are never merged into the main-number frequency grid.
The Analyzer’s Powerball categories are calculated from Powerball frequencies in the selected window, just as the main-number categories are calculated from the main-number frequencies in that window.
Repeats and transitions
The Powerball Explorer compares chronological draws and reports total transitions, same-Powerball repeats, different-Powerball transitions, repeat percentage and the longest same-Powerball streak.
These measurements describe what happened from one recorded draw to the next. A repeat or streak does not establish that the same value is more likely next.
Transition matrix
The Explorer builds a 10×10 matrix. Each row represents the previous Powerball and each column represents the next Powerball. The cells contain counts of observed transitions.
The “most common next Powerball” display identifies the largest historical count from a selected starting value. It is a transition count, not a forecast or predictive probability.
Main-number associations
For each Powerball value, the Explorer counts how often each main number appeared in draws containing that Powerball. It displays the top five main numbers by those co-occurrence counts.
These are historical associations in the dataset. They do not imply that a Powerball causes, selects or improves the future odds of an associated main number.
Where Powerball is excluded
Powerball is excluded from main-number:
- Combination Explorer matching
- Coverage Explorer
- Wheel verification
- Draw Similarity Finder
- Repeat & Carryover Explorer
- Ticket Analyzer main-number structure
- Number Pool Analyzer
Where Powerball is handled separately
Powerball is handled as its own value in:
- Number Checker
- Historical Simulator
- Powerball Explorer
- Random Number Picker
- Win Probability Calculator
- Combination Wheel final-line generation
In those tools, a Powerball result is not added to the main-number combination itself.
