Pick 2 Research Guide

Pick 2 Data, Ordered Results and Validation

Understanding the records behind TTLottoStats Pick 2 research

This guide explains the Pick 2 model used by TTLottoStats, the distinction between FIRST and SECOND, and the rules used to decide which stored records are usable for research.

The game model

Current Pick 2 results contain two values: a FIRST value from 1–36 and a SECOND value from 1–36. The result is an ordered pair, written as FIRST/SECOND.

There are 36 × 36 = 1,296 possible ordered results under this model.

Why order matters

FIRST and SECOND are different positions. The results 12/21 and 21/12 are separate exact outcomes. The result 12/12 is a third outcome: a double in which both positions have the same value.

Pick 2 on TTLottoStats is not represented as a conventional 00–99 digit game, and the site does not treat an unordered pair such as {12, 21} as one combined result.

Zero and leading-zero treatment

The API excludes 0/0 as a stored placeholder. Because a hypothetical genuine 0/0 result would have the same two values, the current implementation cannot distinguish that hypothetical result from a placeholder. This describes the project’s data treatment; it does not establish an official historical Pick 2 rule.

Database snapshot

In the verified snapshot used for this guide, the database reported 26,219 draws and contained 25,969 raw stored rows. It was marked updated on 2026-09-19. The oldest usable record was draw #10 on 1996-07-05, and the latest usable record was draw #26219 on 2026-09-19.

Reported versus stored rows

The reported total exceeds the raw stored-row count by 250. The current source exposes both values but does not explain why they differ. TTLottoStats therefore records this neutrally as a database metadata/storage discrepancy rather than assigning an undocumented cause.

Excluded records

The current snapshot excludes 67 rows:

No duplicate draw numbers were found, and no other malformed rows were found under the current validation. Exclusion means a row is not used as a normal research record; it does not establish anything about the original event behind the stored row.

Usable research records

A record is accepted by the current implementation when it has an integer draw number, a date matching the YYYY-MM-DD pattern, an integer FIRST value from 1–36 and an integer SECOND value from 1–36.

The date check is a format check performed by the current code. The implementation does not independently prove that every formatted date is a valid calendar date.

Historical structure limitations

The current project does not contain authoritative documentation establishing historical Pick 2 range or structural transition dates. The retained records show what is present in the database, but observed data changes should not be presented as official game-history claims without supporting documentation.

Explore the data

Historical research only. Stored records and validation rules describe the project dataset; they do not predict future Pick 2 results.
