Pick 4 Research Guide

Pick 4 Data, Ordered Results and Validation

Understanding the records behind TTLottoStats Pick 4 research

This guide explains the Pick 4 model used by TTLottoStats, why the four positions remain ordered, and how the project decides which stored records are usable for historical research.

The game model

A Pick 4 result contains four positions. Each position contains one digit from 0 through 9, so the result is an ordered four-character string such as 0001, 1234 or 9999.

The theoretical outcome space is 10 × 10 × 10 × 10 = 10,000 ordered results.

Order and leading zeroes

Position is part of the result. 1234, 4321 and 1243 are three separate exact outcomes. The site does not convert these examples into ordinary integers for analysis.

Leading zeroes are significant: 0001, 0123 and 0010 remain four-character results. Repeated digits are also valid, including 1123, 1212, 7774, 9999 and 0000.

0000 under the current implementation

There is no separate all-zero placeholder rule in the current Pick 4 validation model. This describes how the project currently treats its records; it does not establish anything about external or official historical rules.

Current database snapshot

The verified snapshot used for this guide reported 15,839 draws, contained 15,839 raw stored rows, and provided 15,839 valid records. The database was marked updated on 2026-09-19.

The oldest usable record was draw #1 on 2012-11-19, with result 4674. The latest usable record was draw #15839 on 2026-09-19, with result 2256 from the Midday period. These are snapshot values and will change as project data is updated.

Recorded period labels

The current database contains the recorded period labels Morning, Midday, Afternoon and Evening. They are metadata attached to records in the project dataset. The current implementation does not provide authoritative documentation for interpreting these labels as a complete historical scheduling record.

Usable records

A record is accepted by the current implementation when it has an integer-like draw number, a date matching the YYYY-MM-DD pattern, four positions, one digit from 0–9 in each position, and a draw number not already used by another accepted record.

The date check is format-based. The implementation does not independently prove that every formatted date is a valid calendar date.

Current data quality

In the current snapshot, no rows were excluded. No zero placeholders, out-of-range values, malformed rows, missing positions or duplicate draw numbers were identified under the active validation rules. This is a statement about this snapshot, not a promise that future data cannot contain anomalies.

Historical limitations

The current project does not contain authoritative official rule-history documentation establishing a Pick 4 digit-range transition. The retained records describe the project dataset and should not be turned into undocumented official game-history claims.
