Read the fixed diagonals

Cross-Stitch Diamond is a traditional Play Whe Diary chart. Players choose a starter mark and read only the marks immediately touching it on the chart's diagonal lines, keeping the fixed layout separate from marks that are merely nearby.

The historical record lets readers check those diagonal relationships against actual draws: it shows appearances, repeats and gaps for the selected marks across the available archive. That is a comparison with history, not evidence that a diagonal mark is more likely next.

HOW IT WORKS

Follow the diagonal

A played mark is used as the starter. The related marks are only its immediately adjacent diagonal neighbours on the fixed Cross-Stitch Diamond Chart. Marks directly above, below, or beside it are not selected.

The original explanation uses mark 31: its immediate diagonal neighbours are 22, 23, 14 and 12. Marks 9, 25, 7 and 35 are excluded because they are above, below, or beside 31 rather than immediately diagonal to it.
